Just as exciting is the fact that the GT3 RS 4.0 weighs only 2,998 pounds soaking wet, thanks to a host of weight-saving measures like light-weight carpet and scads of carbon fiber. It’s no secret that Formula One exerts high levels of force on both drivers and cars. Case in point: As seen in the video after the break, Red Bull driver Sebastien Buemi experienced catastrophic failure of his front wheels under hard braking. Buemi was setting up for a corner and slowing from around 185 miles per hour when both of his front wheels tore themselves away from his race car.
We shared but this version of the clip has a few more angles from which to take in the carnage. for a terrific show of F1 force.

The last time we heard from the , they were packing up their gear and hitting the road for a long trip designed to put both the MST-01 and the MST-R through their paces. Now it would seem that the American-built bikes recently put in some time on the track with the suspension gurus from Ohlins to get the kit sorted before full production kicks off. Fortunately for us, they brought along a video crew to document the action and give the whole world a sample of exactly what a pushrod V4 sounds like.
We like what we hear.
So, how long will it be before you can get your hands on either bike? Motus isn’t handing out any set dates just yet, but the company does say that it’s currently shopping for dealers. If you think there’s a dealer in your area that might be into selling American-made sport tourers with 160 horsepower on tap and an Ohlins-tuned suspension, drop Motus a line. to check out the full video for yourself.

The newest clip follows two Aventador models as they make short work of a rolling piece of country asphalt. There’s no weird CGI or apocalyptic theme here. Oh no. Corvette Racing Long Beach – Click above to view video
Corvette Racing went into the ALMS round in Long Beach, California ready for a fight. Coming off of the , the two-hour slam around a concrete-lined street course promised a new challenge for the team and drivers. As promised, the race was a hard fight, demanding the drivers stay vicious and focused from beginning to end.
Despite a lackluster last-place qualifying effort for the number 3 machine, car number 4 managed a second-place grid spot. Ten minutes in, Corvette Racing had first place, though they were only able to hang on until around minute 40. Despite its less-than-desirable start, car 3 managed to work its way up the ranks to a respectable finish.
Both cars came away with the scars of an all-out street race, but managed to finish near the top of the heap. Racing now heads into LeMans with a renewed focus and the momentum of two positive results in California. Click to see the team’s results and get a closer look at the action.
Crash test dummies enjoying their employee lounge – Click above to watch video
Once there was this kid, who, got into an accident and couldn’t come to school… he said it was from when the cars had smashed so hard (Mmm mmm mmm mmm). Thankfully, that “kid” is actually a full-scale anthropomorphic test device, better known as a crash test dummy. , along with all major automobile manufacturers, use them extensively to gain precious insight into the physics of a crash, and the toll it takes on the human body. Like when it turns people’s hair from black to bright white.
Data is constantly being collected from these unsung heroes of the automotive industry. As continues to hold true, the data collecting devices become smaller and more powerful. This allows engineers to stuff the ATDs with more gear, thus collecting even more information. to get an inside look at General Motors’ Anthropomorphic Test Device Laboratory.
San Francisco hidden garage – Click above to view video
The only thing separating this urban San Francisco from true brilliance might be the gaudy “No Parking” sign plastered to it. While the sign is definitely useful for keeping pesky commuters from parking in front of your well-disguised garage, it kills just a little of the structure’s mystique.
That said, the /facade arrangement’s double-hinge operation is nothing short of masterful, and we shudder to think how much time, money and blood sweat and tears the setup took to pull off. Once the door has swung out of the way, it reveals a surprisingly large amount of space, for any number of automotive shenanigans, without the threat of passerby getting a peak at your toys.
For privacy, a drool-worthy D.I.Y. ethic, and not scarring the street with another ugly garage door, this workspace is is right up there near the top of the heap. True, its practical purposes may be somewhat limited, but to those who appreciate this kind of engineering, that should be of little concern. See the garage in action . Thanks to all for the tips!
2011 Porsche Panamera Turbo – Click above to watch video
Motor Trend has amassed three of the automotive world’s black sheep for a little throw-down on the quarter mile. The lurks in one corner, complete with its 550-horsepower, forced-induction 4.8-liter V8. What could possibly serve as a fitting combatant to such a lump of angry metal? The is up to the challenge. With a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that kicks out 555 500 horsepower, the gangly SUV should have the cajones to give the bad Porsche a run for its schnitzel.
Of course, where’s the fun in watching two German heavyweights go around the ring? In order to add a little spice to this mix, the guys from MT threw in the . Now it’s a party.
How does it turn out? We won’t spoil it for you. to check out the video for yourself. If you look really closely, you might even see a that used to haunt these halls. Word has it that we can expect a more mouth-watering video with these three amigos to show up later this week.
Time to take our cars back from the robots – Click above to watch video
Computers are constantly gaining a foothold on the everyday tasks that occur in our lives, but there are some tasks we simply hold too dear to let go. Or are there?
Jeopardy has gone the way of the robot and Google has shown that cars can be controlled without a human taking the wheel. Continuing down this path could lead to a future where the vehicles on the road are being piloted by robots or computers. doesn’t want to see that day come, and it sends a shot right across the bow of SkyNet’s patrolling warships.
In a new commercial for the , we’re given a glimpse into a world where technology is done creeping. It’s everywhere, and it affects all portions of our daily routine. One man has had enough, and decides to take back control of his vehicle (the fascia of which bears an eerie resemblance to the latest Charger). Cut to a shot of present day, and Dodge proclaims that robots “will never take our cars.”
That’s right, Dodge. Fight the evil robot overlords. to check out the clip.
Dodge Chargers get furious in Fast Five – Click above to watch video
Fast Five, the fifth installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise, hits theaters Friday, April 29th. Since we live in the age of instant gratification, you’re able to hunt down some of the key scenes and check out the furious action before you decide to plunk down your hard-earned bucks for a ticket. In order to facilitate the decision making process, a key chase scene has made its way to YouTube courtesy of the French arm of Universal Pictures.

The tow-rating on a 5.7-liter-equipped Charger is 2,000-pounds max, and even if you double that figure we’re pretty sure the director is employing a healthy scoop of automotive movie magic to shoot this scene. We’ll save the real sleuthing for a future episode of Mythbusters.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 – Click above to view video
It’s hard to put into words why someone should buy a without sounding like an energy drink-swilling high schooler. It’s just hard to describe its level of performance, styling and je ne sais quoi without using the hackneyed standbys like “epic” or “awesome” or “dude.”
That’s probably why Lamborghini isn’t really bothering with words. Instead, they’ve put together a three-minute clip of the thwarting a geological disaster to amply illustrate its appeal. Sure, it still doesn’t answer how you’re going to put groceries in it, or what kind of gas mileage it gets or how much it costs to insure, but if you’re still worried about those sort of mundane details, you’re a lost cause.
As if the video’s impressive CGI, magnificent driving and glamor shots of the new flagship weren’t enough, the clip ends with an apt way to describe the car. Check out the video . Thanks for the tip, Zachary!
Oullim Motors Spirra build process – Click above to watch the video
Supercar manufacturers are in a very exclusive club that really isn’t all that easy to get into. After all, it’s hard to get a buyer to fork over a couple hundred thousand dollars for a two-seater, no matter how quick it is.
Those obstacles didn’t stop Oullim Motors from developing the hand-made Spirra, and we’re kind of glad they did. The Spirra’s design isn’t revolutionary by any stretch, but a 2,600-pound supercar with routed to the rear wheels sounds pretty good to us.
And if you just want to look like you own an exotic, you can even opt for a run of the mill, naturally aspirated 2.7-liter V6 variant with 175 horsepower. We have no idea why anyone would do that, but the option is available.
to watch a three-minute video that shows some of the care that goes into building the Spirra. There are no assembly lines, materials are sewn with only a human and a sewing machine and the designers apparently started with a pencil and a piece of paper as opposed to a bunch of modeling computers.
Repo Games trailer – Click above to watch the video
We’ve never had a car repossessed, but we imagine it’s a painful ordeal. That doesn’t mean that it won’t make a great game show, however, as the producers of Jersey Shore have created Repo Games. The premise is simple; real repo guys are taking real cars, but with a twist. If a vehicle owner/contestant answers three out of five questions correctly, the vehicle isn’t towed, and the winner gets to keep the vehicle outright.
Spike TV, which will air the show, says that people from all walks of life sometimes have trouble making their car payments. Still, we’re guessing that many of the show’s contestants will be hard-luck types. to watch the three-minute promo video. Many of the questions from the clip appear to be absurdly simple, though the answers aren’t always that easy to come by.
Steam Whistle Brewing electric 1958 Chevrolet Apache – Click above to watchvideo
is known for three things: making high-quality pilsner beer, a green-sensitive ethos and an awesome collection of ’50s, ’60s and ’70s American iron to haul their wares around. The latest addition to their stable is this very green 1958 Apache. The truck was originally motivated by the omnipresent General Motors small-block V8, but for a company with an eco-friendly mindset, that wasn’t going to cut it for long.
Instead, the guys at Steam Whistle teamed up with some local Vancouver, Canada mechanics and restorers to replace the truck’s fossil fuel-chugging guts with a brushless AC motor turning out an incredible 465 lb.-ft. of torque. That kind of motivation means this thing can ferry bedloads of brew to destinations all around Vancouver by day and then cruise the strip and shred tires with the best of them at night. The best part is Steam Whistle’s high-voltage Apache is nearly 100-percent carbon neutral, thanks to wind-generated charging. Click to see videos of the truck in action.
2011 Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale – Click above for high-res image gallery or
The 2011 is the regular GranTurismo’s crude, hairy-chested brother. It’s loud, muscle-bound and doesn’t make any apologies. With a 450-horsepower version of Maserati’s 4.7 liter V8 under the hood, its got the brawn to back up its big talk.
Despite its unruly demeanor and aerodynamic tweaks to the body, the fastest also manages to be as drop-dead gorgeous as its tamer stablemate. Now, there’s video of Maserati’s wild child tearing up the race track. The car looks poised and right at home, and sounds like Lucifer’s personal symphony at full blast. Crazy Russian parking job – Click above to watch the video
Parking can be the toughest part of any commute, unless of course you’ve gone to the School of Parallel Precision. Beyond the jump is a very short clip a Russian driver who didn’t have time to turn around and park like the rest of us, so (we’re guessing) he jammed the parking brake at speed, spun 180 degrees and landed right where he needed to be.
