2011 Chevrolet Cruze playing a full-size game of Pac-Man – Click above to watch video
The is a nimble, compact sedan that could potentially turn into a top seller for . Apparently, it’s also a fan of classic video games. Well, at least the Chinese ad agency that dreamed up this interesting ad for it certainly is. A large room serves as the stage for a full-size representation of the Pac-Man universe. A white Chevy Cruze plays the part of Mr. Pac-Man while a series of Black Cruzes represent the ghosts.
The video is well made but could use a little more substance beyond the driving and background music. However, the song will be with you all day. A bit of a warning though, the song has a few swears in it, which is funny because either the ad agency didn’t notice them or just doesn’t care. Also, the ghosts should be multi-colored, and it would have been really hilarious if they were old Cavaliers.
Check out the commercial . If you end up enjoying the music, the name of the band is The League and the song is called “F* RNR”.

Autocar drives the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport – Click above to watch video
Of all the phrases in the English language, few are likely to as accurately describe what it’s like to drop the hammer on the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport as “absolutely crackers.” That is if you’re trying to keep things PG, at least. The crew from Autocar managed to beg, borrow and steal their way into the cockpit of what is perhaps our era’s pinnacle of production automotive engineering for a quick blast through the European countryside. Fortunately enough for all of you, they were also kind enough to video the whole shebang.
With a total of 1,200 horsepower and 1,100 lb-ft of torque, the Super Sport is the standard Veyron on amphetamines. If you’re brave enough, this horse will theoretically gallop all the way to 268 mph. Of course, you’d need a stretch of highway long enough to not only hit those speeds, but to come back down from them as well. There’s no need to worry, they’re not driving that black-and-orange one again, so to see Autocar’s take on the Veyron Super Sport.
Airbag: 1, Pumpkin: 0 – Click above to watch video
There are plenty of reasons to love Fall. Perfect driving weather, turning leaves, a host of excellent holidays and, of course, pumpkin carving all help to make the passing of Summer all the less painful. But what happens when you get bored with cutting scary faces into unsuspecting gourds? What then? With a little engineering ingenuity and sense of reckless abandon, you could always subject your pumpkins to the destructive force of, say, an airbag from a 1995 Ford Escort.
Hey, some people juggle geese.
Between the rapid expansion of gasses into a synthetic bag and the always hilarious popping properties of pumpkins, you’re all but guaranteed instant YouTube success. Just remember not to try this kind of shenanigans at home. Or, if you do decide to make your own airbag vs. pumpkin video, don’t tell the authorities where you got the idea. Deal? to check a duo of pumpkin popping videos. Thanks for the tip, Coop!
2011 Subaru WRX STI vs Robot Spider – Click above to watch video
Needless to say, we’re already fans of the . , in turn, is apparently a fan of 80’s pop band A-Ha and their breakthrough video for Take On Me. A new ad for the sporty Japanese sedan shows car versus robot spider duking it out in sketchbook form. The ad touts the WRX STI as “pure performance”, while the 305 horsepower turbocharged boxer and symmetrical all-wheel drive system are clearly useful in fleeing a fate of mechanized death.
Check out the ad , as well as the A-Ha video for a refresher on life in 1985. Thanks for the tip, Kevin!
Epson Inkjet vs. Ariel Atom – Click above to watch video
If we had to pick a printer company on the merits of its advertising stunts alone, Epson would hands-down be our favorite. Along with cranking out an awesome 1:1 scale racer not too long ago, the company recently decided to pit its newest printer against an Ariel Atom 3. The premise is simple: The printer would begin printing a scale replica of said track at the exact same time as the Atom would begin slinging corners. The company even bolted the printer to the car and threw in a genuine command center for little extra drama.
Which machine comes out on top? You can probably guess given who’s sponsoring this shindig, but we won’t spoil it for you, either. to check out the spot for yourself. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got a sudden urge to go buy some ink cartridges.
Do you remember the exact moment when you discovered that you loved the automobile? We’re not so sure we can pin down that exact moment ourselves, but this video shows the precise second that one young man earns his wheels.
A camera fixed on the face of a youngster taking his first ride in a shows that internal combustion isn’t required for the automobile to dig its claws into our hearts. The video starts out slowly enough as the young fella chats it up with who appears to be a family friend or relative, but about 22 seconds in said driver slams the Tesla’s go pedal, producing one of the most genuine expressions of fear and excitement we’ve ever seen.
We knew the Tesla Roadster packed a serious battery-powered punch, but we didn’t know it could make you call out for your mommy. to watch this boy receive the call and reminisce about your own induction to the class of auto fandom in the comments. Hat tip to Robinson!

And it’s also a smoke machine. invited a slew of vehicles out for its first annual with the event, and while a few dedicated drift cars showed up, a handful of other lust-worthy rides arrived to ruin their rubber. Mater and Lightning McQueen ride again – Click above to watch video
Everyone’s favorite animated autos are back. Pixar just released the first teaser trailer for Cars 2, and the film looks to bring back the same cast of wayward four-wheel stars as before. Details are still scarce at the moment, but judging from the trailer, Mater and Lightning McQueen will leave Radiator Springs and partner up for some Mission Impossible-style antics. We’re guessing that hilarity ensues.
Pixar says that we can expect to see Cars 2 hit theaters sometime during the summer of 2011, but the animation studio isn’t saying much beyond that. to take a look at the brief trailer.
Ferrari 458 Challenge testing at Monza – Click above to
The curves. The Power. The… Ferrariness. It’s hard to get too much of the , and, luckily, we’ve come across some video of the race-ready testing at Monza. The four-minute flick only shows a few angles of the pride of Maranello, but what we can guarantee is crisp images, ridiculously perfect exhaust melodies and a powerful desire to drive a 458 on track. At a few points it looks like the 458 Challenge isn’t being pushed too hard, but every now and again we would catch a glimpse of the glowing red front brake rotors, assuring us that the driver is giving the lighter, lower 458 a considerable workout. to enjoy the video for yourself, if only to hear just how wonderful the Challenge sounds.

A is quite an enticing piece of machinery. is building just 500 examples of its 2011 911 GT2 RS and – unsurprisingly – they’re all spoken for. The twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six powered can run from 0-62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds. If there’s enough room, the car will keep accelerating until it hits 205 mph. It’s an amazing piece of German engineering and the price tag is an equally amazing $245,000.

A policeman gives speeders a lesson in penal system – Click above to watch video
When a police officer stops you for speeding, even if they give you a ticket, they will often try to provide some sort of additional deterrent to keep you from lead-footing it again. This could be anything from mentioning the safety of other drivers to something a little sterner, like the unhinged tirade lecture this policeman gave a German tourist who was caught driving 98 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone.
And hey, it might have been a bit much, but it’s not entirely false, either. And besides, despite blowing clean through the speed limit, the driver with the hidden camera didn’t get a ticket (we’re guessing the unidentified officer didn’t want the paperwork headache that invariably accompanies international citations). to get schooled (*Warning: Language may be Not Safe For Work).
A Corvette goes for a swim in San Diego – Click above to watch video
How does a convertible – one rented from Hertz no less – end up in the salty brine at Pacific Beach in San Diego? The kindness of buzzed strangers, apparently. According to NBC San Diego, a visiting couple met a man in a bar, and after hearing that he had never driven a Corvette before, they offered him some seat time.
With the new acquaintance behind the wheel and the couple in the passenger seat, witnesses say the driver did a couple of donuts in the sand and then zoomed straight into the surf. Not known for its off-road traction, the Corvette got stuck, upon which the driver got out and ran. The couple was held and released, while the Corvette…well, we’re sure Hertz is working on that right now. for some witness video of the aftermath.

World’s Fastest Ferrari – Click above to watch video
We’ve seen a lot of special action from the Bonneville Salt Flats this year, but this just about takes the cake. The guys from , a tuning shop, are laying claim to the title of the World’s Fastest Ferrari with a record run of 275.4 mph averaged over two sprints. Using a stock-bodied 1985 288 GTO, owner Steve Trafton managed to snag not only the title of world’s fastest Ferrari, but the world’s fastest sports car (AA/BFMS) at the same time. The Prancing Horse beat out the previous record holder by just over 3 mph.
Interestingly enough, Thrafton skipped using a high-dollar Italian mill for this car’s beating heart. Instead, there’s a 540 cubic-inch big block V8 wedged down into that slinky body. Two Borg Warner 80-mm turbos help shove a full 17 pounds of boost into the eight-pot. Thrafton isn’t saying exactly how much power the car is laying down, but it has to be enough to move a planet on command if need be. to watch the Ferrari do what it does best on the Utah salt.
Chrysler 300C gets Frankensteined with a Viper V10 – Click above to watch video
, the official blog, has an oh-so-short clip of a Viper-engined doing a circle in a parking lot. Not a donut, mind you, just an out-and-back. The video itself is rather underwhelming, so don’t say you weren’t warned, but since it comes from an official outlet, we have to imagine that there’ll be something far more compelling soon enough. For now, to get a taste of what a 300C hiding a Viper V10 looks and sounds like, check the vid .
has begun its PR assault to attempt to assure its customers that the Cygnet is more than a gussied-up Toyota iQ. The company just released a new video detailing exactly what makes the compact fit into the Aston Martin bloodline. Brace yourself for an onslaught of terms like “tailor fit” and “owner-customized.” As with the rest of the company’s products, buyers will be able to slather their Cygnet in a bevy of custom interior materials and colors, as well as an array of exterior paint colors. We’re even assured that the pint-size Aston will smell like the real deal.
And to think we were worried.
All jesting aside, the Cygnet should help Aston Martin significantly raise its average corporate fuel economy in preparation for ever stricter emissions regulations. Still, we don’t exactly see James Bond getting the girl from behind the wheel of this thing. to see the video for yourself.
Toyota teases the new Prius MPV – Click above to watch the video
Recently, to the family during its 10th anniversary party for the automaker’s infamous hybrid. Now, Toyota has tweeted that the new vehicle, which obviously takes the shape of a -sized MPV, will make its official debut at the 2011 in January.
Rumors have suggested that the Prius MPV will offer seating for seven via three rows of perches, though there’s no word on whether or not the larger Prius variant will use sliding doors or stick to a more -like shape. Expect the Prius’ powertrain to be slightly revised for MPV duty, as well, probably with a few more lithium-ion batteries on hand to keep things extremely economical. We’ll know more come January, but for now, to see a video of the Prius MPV’s teaser billboard coming to life.
Conan O’Brien does his own stunts – Click above to watch video
Conan O’Brien is getting ready to launch his new late-night talk show. “Conan” premieres November 8th at 11pm on TBS. He wants to show everyone just how bad-ass this new television show will be. Ditching , O’Brien jumps behind the wheel of a ‘69 Dodge Dart that is pointed straight at a cliff. He ups the stunt-ante by packing the car with C4 explosives, fireworks from New Hampshire (which technically are not illegal if you fire them off in the Granite state) and un-popped popcorn kernels.
Having the Dart loaded with stuff that explodes and ceremoniously removing his stunt man from the equation, Conan nails the accelerator towards the cliff then Thelma and Louises it over the edge. The result is a loud, explosion-filled wreck that O’Brien walks away from while putting out his flaming hair and leather jacket. It’s epic.

2012 Ford Focus ST in action – Click above to watch video
has been so kind as to unleash a video of the ST on the interwebs, giving us all our first glimpse at the hopped-up hatch on open pavement. Don’t expect any apex-clipping shots of the five-door going hard over through a set of twisties, though; this video is largely comprised of a lackadaisical romp through the countryside. That’s fine, though. Even without any 9/10ths driving action, the Focus ST still looks plenty lust-worthy from our point of view.
Of course, that probably has plenty to do with the fact that this is the first genuine sports-oriented version of the Focus we’ve even had a whiff of since the mighty Focus SVT went belly up back in 2004. But whereas the SVT brought a mere 170 horsepower to the table, the ST should boast a more heady 247 ponies and 266 lb-ft of torque from an EcoBoost 2.0-liter four-pot.
So long as Ford can slap a decent suspension and tolerable gearbox into the craft, there should be much to love when the car hits our shores in 2012. to have a look for yourself.
Ken Block and AJ Allmendinger do the burnout thing – Click above to watch video
has released the fifth video in its , and this time have gone head-to-head to see who can do the best burnout. As always, Richard Petty himself is on hand to oversee the festivities. While you’d think Allmendinger’s ridiculous V8-powered, rear-wheel drive NASCAR beast would be the de facto champion of lighting ‘em up, Block’s wee rally-sped Fiesta held its own this time *ahem* around. The Gymkhana champ fell back on his signature pirouette-around-a-fixed-object move to win an approving nod from the King himself. Not too shabby.
This latest stunt is one in a series leading up to a massive prize giveaway that includes tickets to the Ford 300 Nationwide and Ford 400 NASCAR races and flat-screen televisions. Ford will also give one lucky winner the keys to a , and if the company happens to take the win at the Ford 400, it will give 43 lucky winners their own unique Fiesta. You can head over to the for more details, and for a look at the video.
